岩肌に赤い吊り橋がなんとも美しい。この場所『岩堰』の由来は、岩で堰を作ったからなのだそう。しかも驚くべきなのは、水の流れを変えるために硬い岩盤を“人力で砕いて切り開いた水路”だということ。…人ってここまで出来るんですね。今の松山市があるのは岩堰のおかげかもしれません。

The rocky cliffs and the red suspension bridge create an incredibly beautiful sight. This place, known as “Iwazeki,” is said to have gotten its name from the dam built using rocks. What’s truly astonishing is that the waterway here was manually carved out of the solid bedrock to redirect the flow of water. It’s amazing to think about what humans are capable of achieving. Perhaps the existence of modern Matsuyama owes much to Iwazeki.
